Sixth Nature Trails property opens in Karnataka’s heritage destination
Nature Trails, the experiential hospitality arm of Thomas Cook (India) Limited, has expanded its portfolio with the launch of Nature Trails Ashoka Resort in Hampi, Karnataka. The opening marks the brand’s sixth property and reinforces its focus on immersive, experience-driven stays aligned with India’s growing domestic tourism demand.
The brand already operates resorts in Durshet, Sajan and Kundalika (Maharashtra), Rock Valley (Goa) and Rishikesh (Uttarakhand). The Hampi addition extends its presence into a culturally significant and high-potential heritage destination.
A heritage-led retreat set against Hampi’s iconic landscape
Located amid Hampi’s distinctive boulder-strewn terrain—once the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire—the resort is positioned to offer guests close access to the region’s historic monuments and natural landmarks. The destination, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site, continues to attract travellers seeking cultural depth, mythology and dramatic landscapes.
Designed around the concept of slow and immersive travel, the property integrates natural surroundings with relaxed, experience-focused hospitality.
Accommodation designed for varied travel segments
The resort features a mix of Superior Rooms, Classic Rooms, eco-inspired Bamboo Cottage Rooms and dormitory accommodation for group travellers. Landscaped gardens and open spaces complement the architectural layout, encouraging guests to engage with the environment.
A key highlight is the resort’s hillside swimming pool, positioned to overlook panoramic hill views, offering a scenic setting for leisure and relaxation.
Dining and curated local experiences
The property includes an open-air multi-cuisine restaurant serving Indian and global dishes, alongside a poolside dining venue focused on grilled specialities and beverages.
Beyond accommodation and dining, the resort curates destination-led experiences such as guided visits to heritage monuments, Anjanadri Hill, temples, villages and nature trails. These experiences aim to deepen guest engagement with Hampi’s cultural and ecological landscape.
Event infrastructure and guest facilities
Nature Trails Ashoka Resort also offers indoor meeting venues, open lawns and poolside spaces suitable for small events, celebrations and social gatherings. Supporting amenities include Wi-Fi access, parking, 24-hour front desk services, room service and essential guest assistance facilities.
Leadership perspective on domestic tourism growth
Commenting on the launch, Mahesh Iyer, Managing Director and CEO of Thomas Cook (India) Limited, noted that domestic travellers are increasingly seeking culturally rich destinations offering meaningful engagement with heritage and nature. He added that the Hampi launch aligns with the company’s strategy to expand its experiential portfolio following its acquisition of the Nature Trails brand, with further additions planned in the near term.
The Hampi resort follows the brand’s recent opening in Rishikesh and signals continued investment in experience-led hospitality across key Indian destinations.
