Indore: Continuing its crackdown against illegal structures, Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) on Friday demolished two-storey building of a hotel in Sarvanand Nagar due to illegal constructions.

According to senior civic body officials, the removal drive was launched on the instructions of IMC Commissioner Pratibha Pal against a G+2 building that was commercially used as a hotel called 25 Hours. The property owner identified as Manjeet Bhatia and Luvdeep Bhatia had allegedly made illegal construction while there were complaints of reporting illicit activities in the hotel, the IMC claimed.

IMC officials said notices were issued to the property owners well in advance to remove the illegal construction and on their failing to act accordingly, IMC, along with local administration, jointly demolished a banquet hall situated on ground floor of the Hotel 25 Hours, terrace restaurant, 45 rooms along with other illegal constructions made on around 60,000 square feet of land.

“There are at least four hotels and 200 hostels in operation in Sarvanand Nagar, for which, no permission was sought but only my hotel was targeted for some reasons not known to me. I am no associated with any political party, nor have enmity or any involvement in criminal activities” Lavdeep Bhatia told TOI. TNN
