U.K.-based Yotel is set to open its second property in Amsterdam. The Yotel Amsterdam Noord will open on Nov. 4 as the Yotel brand's first hotel in mainland Europe.

The property is in the middle of Amsterdam's Buiksloterham neighborhood along the Tolhuis Canal. The area is popular for "start-ups and creative businesses," the company said in a statement, making the location suitable for professional and leisure travelers alike.

"We opened one of our first hotels at Schiphol Airport, so it was only natural for us to return and introduce our city hotel concept to a nation who has always embraced us," said Yotel CEO Hubert Viriot in a statement. "Amsterdam Noord is a thriving cultural hub offering global travellers an exciting opportunity to discover an alternative side of the city. With super easy access to the centre of town and an array of cool businesses right on our doorstep, it made perfect sense for us to open here."

Beyond its 202 "cabins" (the brand's term for guestrooms), the hotel has an all-day restaurant, a lounge, a waterfront deck and an outdoor cinema for socializing. Additional amenities include airline-style self-service kiosks, a 24-hour gym, bicycle and e-bike rental and space for mooring boats.

Developed by Being Development and designed by Studioninedots, the hotel is also notable for its sustainability credentials. Beyond a unique water system that collects, stores, filters and recycles water, the hotel also uses energy-saving light-emitting diode lighting and sensors to turn off devices when not in use. Guests who arrive by electric car will be able to charge their vehicles at one of the hotel’s 10 charging points.

Yotel Amsterdam Noord is the second city-center Yotel in Europe following the opening of Yotel Edinburgh New Town in July and complements the brand’s YotelAir hotel at Amsterdam Schiphol. Yotel Porto, Glasgow and London are slated to open early 2020 in Portugal, Scotland and England, respectively.
