Travelodge the UK's first budget hotel chain which operates 584 hotels across the UK, Ireland and Spain is continuing to invest in its estate. So far this year, the group has invested nearly £12 million giving 28 UK hotels (over 2,600 rooms) a comprehensive revamp.

Delivering quality, consistency and value is a key strategy for Travelodge which welcomes nearly 19 million customers annually. This £12 million investment is part of the next phase of Travelodge's hotel refit programme following the company's nationwide hotel modernisation programme. This investment has brought consistency and the company's contemporary brand look to all of its UK hotels. As a result of this brand investment, the company has achieved record sales for the last five years and experienced a three-fold growth in business customers switching to Travelodge.

The investment so far in 2019 entails 28 Travelodge hotels across the UK from Edinburgh to Paignton being refitted with work completed in: all en-suite rooms, public areas and in Bar Cafés where they are featured.

In addition Travelodge is adding a new feature into all rooms - his & hers USP charging points either side of the bed, to avoid bedtime quarrels about charging personal devices.

This comprehensive hotel refit programme includes the following:

Installation of new energy saving LED lights in the hotel rooms and public areas which create a warm ambiance
Decorating all rooms in a sleep inducing colour scheme
Bathroom works including: new flooring, refresh decor, new vanity units and shower rails
Fitting new luxurious carpet in all rooms which complements the room décor
Installation of his & hers USB charging ports each side of the bed

Craig Bonar, Travelodge, Chief Operations Officer said: "Delivery quality, consistency and value sit at the heart of our business. Over the last few years we have strengthened Travelodge considerably which has resulted in record sales and growth in our customer base, especially business travellers. We want to build on this momentum and continue to invest in our estate."

"Our operation is a well-oiled machine and this year to date we have refitted over 2,600 Travelodge rooms across the UK including installing his & hers bedside USB charging points which have become a core room necessity in today's social world."

"Depending on the size of the hotel, the hotel makeover takes between three to 12 weeks and our hotel teams are working around the clock to ensure there is no compromise to our customer experience in any way."
