The tourism industry of Norfolk is quite hopeful that this New Year will be a good year. Even though, COVID-19 might create some disruptions whatsoever.

Usually, this time of the year is when people book hotels to enjoy their summer holidays and many cottages in Norfolk are already getting booked up for the summers.

To quote Lucy Richardson, from holiday cottage firm Crabpot Cottages, “January is our busiest times for peak bookings. We’ve seen an increase in bookings for this year and we expect to be fully booked this summer.”

“We’ve also seen quiet a lot of enquiries for January, February and March this year, which is normally our lowest season.”

Ms. Richardson explained that they are quite optimistic that 2022 would be a good year for them and, even if international travel does become seamless, she is hopeful that vacationers won’t cancel their bookings.

Waterways Holidays, which provides boating and holiday cottages on the Norfolk Broads, is getting booked up for the year ahead.

To quote Nigel Richards, managing director of Waterways Holidays, “Advance bookings are at a strong level and there is an indication that there is still hesitancy for many customers to travel abroad.”

“During 2021 people tended to stay with UK holidays and this year we are seeing the same. I don’t think people will cancel if restrictions are removed for travelling abroad, as those who wish to go abroad tend to delay making a booking.”

He also mentioned that COVID-19 had not only witnessed a trend for short-stay breaks and customers booking but the “trend is also towards long holidays, as people are taking their main holiday in the UK.”
