Chef Vivek Kalia takes over as the executive chef at The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat. The chef’s strong values of promptness, creativity and his rootedness in gastronomic traditions have been stepping stones of his exponential success. He has completed a Diploma in Hotel Management from IHM & CTN Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, followed by a two-year Hotel Operational Training program in kitchen from Hotel Mansingh.
Chef Vivek brings his vast repertoire of experience in the field of food and beverage to The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat as Executive Chef. Embodying and experimenting with the different foods and flavors from around the world, this veteran chef puts his heart and soul into the kitchen by focusing on unparalleled quality and dedicating his attention to detail and consistency. His astute knowledge of food, its preparation, flavors and presentation makes him a coveted name in the hospitality world. His firm belief in quality ingredients, the precise method and maintaining consistency throughout his career has given him the accolade of an excellent facility benefactor.
In his current role, his responsibilities include harnessing the newest trends in Kolkata and curating the best and most innovative food offerings in catering. His aim for The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat is to take the Food and Beverage offerings to greater heights, and aim at positioning the signature outlets at the property as the best in the city.
With a specialization in Italian Cuisine, the executive chef also displays an enviable forte in French, European, Spanish and Indian cuisine. His expertise in comfort food brings exclusivity to his art of cooking. He aspires to educate people with new cuisines without disrupting the local flavors. Chef Vivek is always aspiring to provide outstanding service through a fresh perspective.
In his previous roles he has worked with Marriott Indore, Preopening CY Agra & Goa Marriott Resort and Spa, Hotel Renaissance, Mumbai and Hotel Radisson MBD, Noida, The Udaivilas Udaipur and Jai Mahal Palace Jaipur. He has also worked closely with renowned chefs from France, Europe, America and Australia that took him to the roots of international food. His major learning comes from his time and exposure with Marriott International. Chef Vivek has travelled across the country to acquaint himself with the varied palates in India.
Chef Vivek’s vivacious appetite for the culinary arts, coupled with his exemplar managerial style, has secured his remarkable achievements in the industry. His desire for perfection and passion to assure the best niche truly sets him apart.
