The Hoxton, Rome has opened its doors in Parioli, boasting 192 bedrooms; Cugino, a café and aperitivo bar run in collaboration with local restaurant and micro-bakery Marigold; a large open lobby; a beautiful outdoor terrace; and L'Appartamento, a unique meeting and events space. A second restaurant will open in September.

The Hoxton, Rome comes as the 10th hotel for the brand — a milestone moment in its exciting expansion. The Hoxton first opened its doors in Shoreditch, East London in 2006 and now has hotels in some key neighbourhoods across Europe and North America. Locations include London (Shoreditch, Holborn and Southwark), Paris, Amsterdam, New York, Portland, Chicago, and Downtown LA.

Occupying a '70s building, The Hoxton, Rome is located in the tip of Parioli, with some of the city's most beautiful parks including Villa Borghese in easy walking distance for guests to explore. Parioli itself is an upmarket neighbourhood, full of gelaterias and local trattorias, as well cultural institutions MACRO (Museum of Contemporary Art) and MAXXI (National Museum of 21st Century Art).

BEDROOMS

The hotel's 192 bedrooms are spread over seven floors and come in six sizes: Shoebox, Cosy, Cosy Up, Roomy, Roomy Terrace and Biggy. Rooms draw references from the nostalgic interiors of classic Italian cinema, for which Rome is celebrated. These feature rustic parquet floors, lacquered timbers and local stones, whilst the brightly coloured bathrooms nod to mid-century Italian design. Each room, all slightly different, has rich timber wall panelling, a bespoke statement headboard and an eclectic mix of furniture. Some of the larger rooms feature striking Murano glass chandeliers that were salvaged from the building. Guests opting for a Roomy Terrace room can enjoy their very own sun terrace, with garden furniture, perfect for soaking up those Italian rays.

DESIGN

Ennismore Design Studio have impressively transformed the '70s building into a Hoxton, collaborating with Fettle Design for the public spaces, and taking cues from the building's original details and the rich architecture of the Eternal City. The dusty pink façade has remained largely untouched, whilst inside, the building has been completely reimagined, transformed into a 70's modernist space with a ground floor comprising a large open lobby flooded with natural light; sweeping curved coffee bar and cafe, and a new shaded outdoor terrace. Local marbles and terrazzos feature throughout the space on table tops and bar fronts, alongside signature Hoxton design elements like wall panelling and timber floors. In the lobby, rich texture and clashing colours adorn statement sofas, whilst vintage Italian lighting finishes off cosy corners.

The existing building had an abundance of 70s Italian features which have been embraced and provided a strong starting point for the design studio's sourcing of Italian antique and vintage furniture throughout Italy and Europe. Key details from the local architecture and neighbourhood have been translated into the design in reimagined form, creating a sense of familiarity that makes each Hoxton so true to its location.

CUGINO

Cugino is an all-day destination with a farm-to-table ethos, run in collaboration with local restaurant and micro-bakery Marigold. Here, guests and locals can enjoy coffee, freshly baked pastries, breakfast, brunch, fast & casual lunches, and Aperitivo in the cafe or on the outdoor terrace. Breakfast and brunch highlights include: freshly baked orange swirls; homemade Cugino granola served with yoghurt and seasonal compote; fried eggs with Tuscan sausage, cannellini beans and homemade ketchup; bagel sandwiches with roast beef, goat's cheese and salsa verde; and for something sweet, toasted brioche with creamed ricotta and strawberry compote.

Come 6pm, Cugino switches seamlessly into a bar with Aperitivo hour paired with house-made snacks and antipasti before transitioning into a late-night cocktail spot. Simone De Luca (previously of Soho House, The Punch Room and The London EDITION) has curated the cocktail menu, featuring seasonal signature serves and classic cocktails.

An all-day menu is available throughout the lobby, including the Hoxtail sandwich (brioche with pulled oxtail, chilli mayo and sweet & sour celery); wild black rice bowl with roasted sweet potato, mixed greens, house giardinera and acacia honey citronette; and a friggitelli quesadilla with smoked scamorza, tropea onion compote and guacamole.

L'APPARTAMENTO

L'Appartamento, set in the lower ground floor, is a dedicated meeting and events space with five rooms of varying size. Centred around a communal pantry kitchen, each room features timber floors, bold statement rugs, and vintage Italian accents. This unique and multi-functional space is one that's at the core of every Hoxton, perfect for intimate dining, events and parties when socialising returns once more!
