At present, the Sikkim state government for tourists has reopened the famous Yumthang Valley in Lachung village.

This decision comes after a week the state decided to ease all restrictions related to travel in many tourist destinations, like Nathula, Tsomgo Lake, and Baba Mandir.

Lachung Dzumsa, a local body that looks into tourism activities in the North Sikkim village, has welcomed the decision and said that they would make sure that all guidelines related to COVID are strictly followed.

Tourists started visiting famous East Sikkim destinations of Baba Mandir and Tsomgo Lake as per the recent reports, as soon as last week they were opened for the visitors. In the coming days, the state government will also think about reopening another favorite destination of tourists, i.e., Gurudongmar Lake in Lachen village in North Sikkim. An official while referring to this stated that Gurudongmar Lake will be opened only after holding a meeting with officials responsible for it.

From March 2021, Sikkim had closed all its popular tourist destinations after the country got a massive surge in COVID-19 cases. From July, the administration started welcoming tourists who are fully vaccinated and also allowed homestays and hotels to operate at 50 percent capacity.

Those who are vaccinated with single shots will have to produce a negative RT-PCR test report. This report should not be older than 72 hours before arrival, while the one who are fully vaccinated are allowed to enter the state without any restrictions whatsoever.
