Marriott International has signed an agreement with RIMAP Hospitality to open a Moxy hotel within a towering mixed-use scheme in one of Canada’s largest cities.

Montreal will soon welcome a new hotel trading under Marriott International’s playful and spirited Moxy brand.

A prominent site in Montreal

Moxy will enter Quebec with the creation of a property north of Griffintown, an area home to The Bell Centre, Place Bonnaventure, Montreal train station and the forthcoming National Bank headquarters.

“Following our announcement of the AC hotel in downtown Ottawa, we are excited to once again collaborate with RIMAP Hospitality on another urban distinctive lifestyle hotel, which will bring a bold, new and unconventional hotel experience to this dynamic market,” said Paul Loehr, regional vice president of development in Canada for Marriott International.

“Moxy Hotels’ vibrant design and sociable service at an approachable price point is exactly what Montreal needs,” added Marc Varadi, president of RIMAP Hospitality. “Moxy Montreal will infuse an energetic urban vibe to this section of the city and will be a great addition in this booming market.”

The full Moxy experience

This exciting new hotel will take up the first to 11th floors of a 63-storey mixed-use tower that’s destined to become one of the city’s tallest buildings. According to current plans, the hotel element will encompass 216 small but smart and flexible guestrooms integrating modular furniture and stylish touches.

An industrial chic look will distinguish the interiors of the public spaces here, which are to become the centre of activity for guests.

In terms of the F&B experience, travellers can expect a lively offering that combines bold programming with local flavours and communal dining tables; there’ll be 24/7 grab-and-go options, of course, and an amped-up Bar Moxy.

Construction of Moxy Montreal Downtown will begin this summer, ahead of an expected opening in 2024.
