HFTP Cougar Chapter Member Shines in Amsterdam Team Competition

Students in the Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Houston in Texas achieved placement in the final five teams during the HotelSchool The Hague Genio Worldwide Innovation Summit last month.

These exceptional individuals include Juan Trevino, Jack Hodges and Ailin Fei. Trevino is a student member of HFTP and past officer of the HFTP University of Houston Cougar Chapter. This chapter received the HFTP Student Chapter of the Year Award in 2019. Past HFTP Global President Arlene Ramirez, MBA, CHAE, CHE, CHIA, CAHTA served as the faculty advisor for the University of Houston team.

The sixth annual Genio Worldwide Innovation Summit, which took place at the HotelSchool's Amsterdam campus, is a student challenge that brought together students from 16 hotel schools from around the world, including the University of Houston, and the current leaders of the hospitality industry. The Houston students worked on a case study of sustainability and innovations in technology, which they presented to a jury consisting of top C-level industry professionals on the final day of the conference.

About the Genio Worldwide Innovation Summit

Hotelschool The Hague has organized the Genio Worldwide Innovation Summit on an annual basis for the last five years. During the Genio Worldwide Innovation Summit, students from top international hotel schools will be challenged by an industry-related case, which will need to be analyzed prior to the summit.
