Kurt Straub was selected as Vice President of Operations, Middle East and Africa, at Hyatt Hotels Corporate in February 2018.
With more than three decades of hospitality industry experience, Mr. Straub has extensive international experience within the operations sector of hotels globally. In his current role, Mr. Straub’s core responsibilities include overseeing the operational strategy for the Hyatt brand and driving strategic growth and development in the region. He will also play an integral part in talent development and owner relations.
Mr. Straub began to collate his international hospitality experience in January 1989. He worked within the F&B division of many renowned properties in Europe and the Middle East, including Hotel St Gotthard in Zurich and Hotel Al Khozama in Riyadh. After spending four years growing his client management abilities and building customer relationship skills, Mr. Straub embarked on his professional journey with Hyatt.
Since January 1993, Mr. Straub has gained over 25 years’ experience with Hyatt on a global scale. He has worked in his native city of Zurich, as well as the South American, Asian, European and former Soviet Union markets. During his tenure, Mr. Straub held positions that included F&B Manager, Property General Manager, Area Vice President, and Vice president Operations. His impeccable work ethic and pursuit of growth - on both personal and professional platforms - are testament to his monumental progression within Hyatt.
Mr. Straub holds a degree in Hospitality Management from the prestigious Swiss institute, Belvoirpark Hospitality School and fluent in German, English & Spanish. He has also completed an extensive training course with Hyatt, to further grow his knowledge of the brand’s varied operations and global reach.
