Describe your job in 50 words
I am an executive whose on floor presence is equally matched with expertise in process and quality. This broad statement is a combination of daily supervision of the housekeeping function by delegation, training and quality checks through audits to ensure highest quality is maintained 24/7. I also update myself with the latest trends and technological advancement to bring in higher guest satisfaction.
How long have you worked in the hospitality industry? Describe your experience.
I have worked for 15 years in the housekeeping department across various countries and locations. My career graph is filled with rich experience in various techniques and quality standards maintained across the globe.
What are your three biggest challenges?
Recruitment, retention of staff: Today’s workforce is active on social media which makes them challenge the existing work environment. That keeps the management on their toes as they try to smooth out work, satisfying the employee financially and in kind. This does not enforce retention as there is always a significant percentage whose only interest is self-career growth irrespective of the brand they work for.
Multi-cultural barriers: Language barriers such as not speaking a widely known language like English is a challenge.
Sustainability is the third.
Prior to your current position what were you doing before.
I worked in the UK and India. I started my journey in the hospitality industry at the Premier Inn UK in 2004 as a housekeeping associate and was promoted to the position of the housekeeping team leader. In 2009 I was transferred to Premier Inn India, Bengaluru. There, I made my way up to the role of the operations manager and in 2018 I was transferred to Premier Inn Goa where I assumed the role of rooms division manager at Fairfield Marriott.

Constant training, motivation of employees including constant interaction to accord human touch to workforce

Three things you enjoy about your job.
It gives me great job satisfaction, I have the chance to see my career grow and the work-life balance it provides.
Describe your single biggest achievement.
My biggest achievement was implemented at the laundry and generating revenue. The guest laundry and the room laundry is a huge cost in housekeeping, so I setup a small laundry that resulted in saving huge amounts of money every month.
