Researching Instagram hashtags is boring! There, I said it for you. You probably enjoy taking amazing photos and sharing them with edgy captions to make your friends envious. But I doubt strategising an effective hashtags strategy so you can amplify your reach is on your fun-to-do list.

I have already shared "30 Instagram Hashtags to Get Your Travel Photos Featured". But I wanted to go into a little more detail for those travel bloggers out there like me. This will also give you more of an idea on what’s inside my “Ultimate List of 1,000+ Travel Hashtags for Instagram”, especially for anyone who is still on the fence about investing $9.99 towards your journey as a professional travel blogger!

Remember, 100% of your payment goes to micro-finance entrepreneurs in developing countries with Care International UK.

A quick guide on how to get ranked as a top post in your favourite hashtag feeds:

There’s no point delivering a bunch of hashtags and letting you loose on the social media world without showing you how to use them.

With great hashtags, comes great responsibility. It seems trivial but mastering Instagram hashtags can make or break the growth of an account.

The aim of the game is to rank as a top post in your chosen hashtags. This will amplify your reach and maximise your exposure by remaining in the top 9 posts for a few hours or even a few days. If you successfully rank as one of the “Top Posts”, the more posts in the feed the better. However, this isn’t necessarily good advice because popular hashtag feeds are highly competitive. Using hashtags with ms of posts will get you few quick likes but with an endless series of new posts, yours will disappear from the feed in seconds.

To heighten your chances of ranking as a top post, aim for feeds with less than 300k or less than 1 m posts depending on your engagement ratio. When you rank as a top post in smaller hashtags, your engagement will snowball and you are likely to get featured in larger feeds.

Here we go!

TL;DR You can always skip to the end of each section to copy and paste my hashtags into your next Instagram post.

2. #adventureseeker

Instead of popular posts like #adventure and #wanderlust, try smaller hashtags like #adventureseeker to give you more chance in ranking as a top post.

> 200k posts

3. #doyoutravel

A hashtag that originates from the legendary Instagram master, Jack Morris @doyoutravel. The funny thing is, I’m not sure if he even uses it himself. #toobigtofail

4. #travelmore

Who doesn’t like to #travelmore?

> 1.2 m posts

6. #wonderfulplaces

A few more general hashtags that apply to most posts about travel!

> 1 m posts
