As our world gets more connected, a vacation that allows us to truly disconnect becomes incredibly appealing. More and more people are seeking out remote destinations with untouched beaches, pristine forests and no public transportation in sight in order to relax. When I recently attended ILTM (International Luxury Travel Market) there was much talk about far-flung destinations and there are a few remote hotel openings on the horizon guaranteed to create buzz in this category. Here are three brand new hotels for you to unplug at.
1. Six Senses Shaharut
This property will open in 2020 in Israel’s Negev Desert with 60 suites that all feature outdoor terraces, some with private pools. This new Six Senses Hotel is named after the moment just before dawn, Shaharut, and is located in a historically significant location. Many of the hotel’s activities connect to the geography, such as their Earth Lab, where guests are invited to connect with the natural world and learn life hacks that will impact their life in a positive manner. There’s also an on-site camel stable inviting you to take rides in the mornings and evening. If you want to take things up a notch speed-wise there will also be jeep safaris. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Six Senses property if there wasn’t also going to be a great spa. There will be four single and two treatment rooms, a hammam, saunas and yoga studio. Gourmets will love their on-site restaurant Midian, which features indoor and outdoor seating to enjoy “progressive ethnic cuisine with Mediterranean and Israeli influence.” Six Senses Shaharut will be a chic desert escape that pays homage to its historical region in a variety of ways.
2. The Ritz-Carlton, Rabat Dar Es Salam
Are you craving space and rolling green hills? Come to The Ritz-Carlton, Rabat Dar Es Salam when it opens in 2020 which sits on verdant Moroccan landscape. Here you can enjoy 440 acres of oak forest, landscaped gardens and the famous gold course Royal Golf Dar es Salam. Even though you’re outside of a metropolis there’s plenty to do and see. For one, you can enjoy local cuisine in one of the five restaurants on the property. Then you can indulge in sumptuous spa treatments, as well as their local hammam. The treatments draw on ancient rituals of the region to help center and relax you. Escape to this property to forget about your cell phone, enjoy nature and maybe feel like a royal in the luxurious property.
3. Regent Phu Cuoc
If you love bright blue water and a secluded beach, then the new Regent Phu Cuoc is a great option for you when it opens in 2020. This Cambodian island paradise is in the Gulf of Thailand and here you’ll love the golden sand and turquoise water, with the added benefit that the property has a slice of the ocean for itself. Once you’re done with water activities there are also plenty of hiking trails to explore and there’s also lush jungle asking to be explored. The hotel’s Lake Villas resemble overwater villas and are really unique in their design. The only difficult decision you’ll have to make is whether you want to swim in your infinity pool, the lake or the ocean that day. Either way, you’ll have great views and will be able to unwind from everyday life at this destination.
